The Mists of Vespera

I. CULTURAL SUBSTANCE - "THE MISTS OF VESPERS"

Since the dawn of written history, the Mists have swirled their cold tendrils around the world of Vigil. Packed dense in the suspended drops of water lies a much more mystic force. Deeply magical and intertwined with the essence of Vigil, the Mists hold a large significance to the peoples that live in them. Holidays and cultural practices are built on the waxing and waning of the Mists in their seasonal cycle. Halfway through the fourth month, Selaris, is the Winter Solstice where the Mists are at their strongest, reaching heights of 8m (26ft). While the end of the year is the Summer Solstice where the Mists dwindle to barely 1m heigh. It is thought that Veilbreaches are more common when the Mists fully recede from a place.

II. FUNDAMENTAL SUBSTANCE — “VESPERIC THAUMIUM MYST”

Composition

  • Vaporous lattice of thaumic micro-crystals (“β-silicates”) suspended in humid air.
  • Each crystal stores an entangled triple charge: mnemonic echo, elemental seed, chronal resonance.

Primary Units

  • ζ-unit (zeta) = Mist mass drawn from 10 m³ of Mid-Mist at standard saturation.
  • k-OMI (kilo-Omnis Myst Indice) = 1 000 calibrated thaum-joules released.
