Courtyard At Six

“Three floors. Three worlds. One ladder of ambition.”

At Vikan Academy, even the cafeteria is a battleground for status.
Situated at the center of Vikan Academy, the Courtyard at Six—known simply as The Court—is a three-story dining complex that functions as both a culinary hub and a daily reminder of the academy’s rigid social structure. Open solely during lunch hours, the cafeteria features gourmet meals prepared fresh by professional chefs. The menu rotates weekly, with no dish repeated more than twice a month to ensure variety and exclusivity.
But the true experience of the cafeteria isn’t just about the food—it’s about where you sit. Every floor of the building reflects a clear tier of privilege, with strict access controls and unmistakable contrasts in atmosphere and service.

Architecture & Layout

The cafeteria is a sleek, modern construction of brushed steel, smart glass, and polished surfaces. At its heart lies a serene, open-air courtyard, landscaped with carefully manicured greenery, smooth stone paths, and minimalist seating.
While the courtyard is visible from the upper floors, it is only accessible through the first floor, except for a discreet, one-way-only passage leading from the third floor directly into the courtyard. This hidden route provides faculty and staff with private access to the outdoor space, bypassing the main traffic of the first floor.
Movement between floors is strictly controlled through badge-scanning kiosks at every stairwell and elevator, preserving the academy’s hierarchy and reinforcing social boundaries.

Atmosphere & Culture

The Courtyard at Six is more than a dining space—it is a theater of hierarchy, where meals are staged as lessons in discipline, privilege, and power. The three-story structure gleams with brushed steel and smart glass, every surface polished to reflect both light and rank. From the upper floors, students look down into the manicured courtyard below as though surveying an arena, each level a balcony of status gazing upon those beneath them.
On the first floor, the atmosphere is brisk and controlled. Meal ticket kiosks emit a steady pulse of light as lines of students shuffle forward in silence broken only by the scrape of trays and the occasional clipped exchange. The furniture here is functional—sturdy tables, rigid chairs, evenly spaced in neat rows. The lighting is bright, unflattering, designed to move bodies through rather than encourage them to linger.
The second floor replaces efficiency with muted luxury. Tables are polished wood with dark finishes, paired with cushioned seating arranged farther apart to give the illusion of privacy. Staff glide between them with plated meals and silver cutlery, their uniforms crisp and movements precise. Overhead, the lighting softens to a warmer tone, the air hushed as conversations drop to whispers. Here, every glance across the room carries weight, and the careful placement of a chair or tilt of a glass can speak louder than words.
The third floor is quieter still, reserved for faculty. Here the seating is slightly elevated, a vantage point overlooking both the courtyard and the students below. The lighting is subtler, the tables more spacious, the atmosphere heavy with unspoken authority. A discreet, one-way passage leading directly into the courtyard ensures staff can bypass the lower floors entirely, reinforcing the invisible scaffolding of privilege.
At the center lies the courtyard itself, serene on the surface—smooth stone paths weaving between manicured greenery and minimalist benches. Yet even here, the atmosphere is tense, the social order stitched into every step and every seat. Those who sit in the sun and those who remain in shadow are not placed there by chance. Even silence becomes a statement.
At Vikan Academy, nothing is accidental. The Courtyard at Six makes certain of it: every meal is a ritual, every table a marker of progress, and every glance a reminder that to sit is to be seen, and to be seen is to be judged.
