Kumatori

Kumatori is the kingdom of dragons. It has been around in various forms since before the rise of mankind, though it has only recently made a return to its traditional culture. It is generally divided up into regions based on the type of dragon that rules over that area, with each type of dragon being connected to one of the Founders, though there is always some overlap. Matamasumera has always been the nation's established ruler, much like the Cypress Queen who rules across the mountains. While they were once allied with the Empire of Man, they have less interest in foreign relations now that the Vimali Empire is no longer a threat.   The majority of the land in Kumatori is mountainous, and a significant portion of the population lives underground (within the 'lairs' of their dragon rulers) but several settlements are on the surface, either atop the mountains or in the rolling hills to the east. All settlements in Kumatori are ruled by a dragon of some kind. Often, a juvenile or sometimes even an adult dragon will set off to find territory to rule. Sometimes this territory is outside of Kumatori's current territory and in such cases, it is expected that they will spend some time establishing themselves and slowly staking their claim on such land.

Demography and Population

Very few non-dragonkind races live in Kumatori, and those that do have either very specialized or very lowly roles in society. Of the dragonkind that live in the kingdom, half-dragons are considered the lowest members of the caste system, given that they are not pure dragons and tend to be "unholy" half-breeds with humans.

Military

Kumatori's Military is comprised of militias organized from individual villages. Each regiment is led by a dragon, usually one younger than the dragon that rules the area. If there is an important battle or war, older dragons will be present. Just below the dragon generals, dragonborns serve as warriors and wizards. Kobolds, below the dragonborns, are great tinkerers, skilled at laying traps and using underhanded tactics, serving effectively as sappers and scouts. Other, non-dragonkin soldiers are treated like peasant militia and are often fodder for enemy armies.

Religion

Religions other than the official religion are forbidden in Kumatori. The presence of other religions would cause the populace to potentially refute the divine rule of Matamasumera, whose power as a god places him and his kin in a special place within the world. Many towns contain temples to one or more of the Primordial Siblings, whose influence was said to have created Matamasumera in the first place. Other than the dragonlords, these are the only gods whose worship is accepted in Kumatori.   At the borders of Kumatori, some towns worship other gods and follow other faiths, and the dragons that rule those towns often overlook such worship in favor of keeping the peace.

Foreign Relations

The Kumatorii regard most other nations with pity, believing them to be lesser beings than the great dragons that rule over them. Even so, they understand the need for alliances. They loathe to negotiate with other races and countries, but if such a group could be manipulated to their ends they will hear out their demands, potentially accepting some kind of diplomatic treaty if it will benefit them.   Given all of the current conflict in The Kingdom of Savassan, Kuumatori is seeking alliances with the kingdom to gain leverage on the Sylvan Enclave, a nation whose great threat the dragons are aware of. They also harbor a lot of resentment towards the enclave because of their history of conflict (See Cypress: the First Tree).
