Epimar Minohn

The now fractured Empire of Man was once the greatest and most powerful country ever seen in this world. At its height, it controlled nearly all of the world's known territory and every known race lived within its borders.   Emerging out of the swamps, humans, referred to by many other races as 'bogfolk', proved to be very resilient and capable of surviving in nearly any climate. Sometimes they would show up outside of their swamps, in small tribes and raiding parties, to obtain the resources they needed. Some of these humans ended up permanently residing in the Dusveci Desert, known as the Lusanites in the desert. In many other locations, elves and dwarves had already staked their claim on different lands, possessing greater powers of craftsmanship or control over nature. The dwarves knew how to shape the stone into what they needed (to a finer degree than the flint working of the bogfolk) and the elves exerted special control and awareness over the natural world around them. These other races were much older and more experienced than humans. This made it very difficult for humans to find a place to live outside of their swamps. Human resilience and ingenuity did come with some advantages, however, and the bogfolk managed to eke out a living in this terrain that many other races found unlivable. They also managed to learn some of the elven and dwarven practices of smithing and domestication of animals.   The Empire rose to power as a result of the discovery of the Imagicanium, a discovery that gave them the military power necessary to take over other nations, as well as the ability to inspire awe with their magic, leading many people to join of their own volition to learn magic for themselves. The Empire would grow to rule nearly all of the known lands of Lutar Minohn, leading a grandiose and prosperous nation for millennia. Its end would come about, though, from Ohn's Bane, a disease that virtually ended the human race. While humans are still around, the disease led humans to sequester themselves away from other races or interbreed with other races to preserve their bloodlines through half-races.   One of the Empire's biggest adversaries was another empire in the Sayale Archipelago. This civilization, The Llana'shi Empire was much older than any human settlement, and often took people as slaves. They would work these slaves to the death, then resurrect them as undead to continue working. The bogfolk quickly became hostile towards these groups, keeping watch over regions that connected them to the sea. This resentment did not fade with the rise of the Empire, and when war was declared, the Empire sought to wipe them out.
