Amber-in-Green

Goddess of the green soul (a.k.a. Daughter of Earth Mother, Queen of the Sylvan Court, Wyrdseer)

Amber-in-Green is Nature incarnate, successor to the ages-gone Earth Mother, and guardian to the sylvan races. As the goddess of the green soul, she and her followers are defenders of the green places of the world and the natural beauty of wild untamed lands. When she moves to action she typically does so through indirect or subtle means, preferring to carefully manage an issue like a gardener might cultivate a weed to blossom into something more. While urban development might seem as if it’d be offensive to her, Amber-in-Green delights in encouraging life to adapt to new challenges and cityscapes to prove the indomitable will of Nature.   Unique to the formation of Veyrsrhea, the influx of raw mana into the very fabric of the world adds an underlay of arcana to the planet’s nature, both figuratively and literally. As such, Amber-in-Green weaves her sylvan magic with threads of arcane hidden amongst the divine. Much less is understood of her dominion over the arcane than her command of the natural world, though theories abound. Elusive and enigmatic at the best of times, only her most trusted devouts are likely privy to the exact impact of the arcane leylines on her divinity. What is known, or at least commonly theorized, is that her antipodal diadic essence potentially means she could one day become the most powerful member of the Summoner’s Pantheon… if she isn’t already.   Patronage: Her primary devouts include druids and rangers who guard the wild places of the earth, farmers and ranchers who respectfully nurture life, fishers who depend on consistent yearly hauls, and the fae-folk who bow before her. She is highly regarded for her mysterious, riddled fortune telling, and as such counts scryers, tea leaf diviners, palm readers, hedge witches, fortune tellers, and the like amongst her flock. Although devouts who take up the healthcare professions may more often worship Ohsan'a, Amber-in-Green is a close second when the healing arts have done all they can for a patient. Exceptionally driven magi who seek, if not mastery, then at least an advantageous blending of the arcane and divine magics see Amber-in-Green as the obvious goddess to worship, often at the expense of prayers to the other 11 deities.   Worship: As her namesake, amber is often used to symbolize one’s devotion to Amber-in-Green. Beads of amber on string are commonly strung through the hair or rest on the brow of those being married during their ceremony and celebrations. Small pocket sized amber carved figures of the goddess might be kept as a prayer focus. Simple stone statues are popular for communal shrines, or perhaps a wood carving lovingly rendered for homes. Prayers are offered up through tea poured on small stone shrines during the planting season, and during harvest festivals her praises are sung in thanks. Small portions of cultivated grain or vegetables are sometimes left at her shrines as offerings to curry favor, and animal fat candles with colorful swirls of resin burn to wish safe travels for loved ones venturing on hunting or trapping trips. Honey and syrup are favored treats associated with the goddess, and they are used both in offerings and rituals. Many urban devouts will attempt to maintain a small garden in whatever nooks and crannies their homes may offer, and richer areas may maintain a common green or even full fledged private plots where they can worship in peace.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Avatar: Her avatar appears as an amber skinned dryad with long flowing curled green vines for her hair that is usually depicted as covering her modesty. Throughout her hair multiple vines reminiscent of various seasonal colors streak through the rest. Small flowers of various colors, spanning the shades of whichever season it is currently, will constantly blossom throughout her hair and fall about her as they rapidly mature. Root-like horns spring from her forehead and bend back, greening towards the prongs. Her pupil-less eyes are pools of soft verdant light that glow brighter when she uses her druidcraft. Her avatar also traditionally is depicted as riding an incredible shaggy chestnut pony, holding aloft a lantern fashioned from a luminous amberfruit.

Contacts & Relations

Relationships in the pantheon: Amber-in-Green has a love/hate relationship with Wrathorn as a fellow nature deity, like that of an older judgmental sister. They often butt heads on how best to approach a problem, especially when it comes to dealing with Shiva-Nys and the expansion of civilization. She’s rumored to have an on again/off again romantic relationship with Hadyn, with whom she shares a passionate hatred of Mircalla. She maintains a friendly rivalry with Essthiss, and the tales of them trying to one up each other’s tricks is the stuff of legends. She counts Ohsan’a and Phoenix Sol as valued allies and confidants, and considers herself something of a mentor to the ‘younger’ Phoenix Sol who in turn bucks at the occasionally patronizing treatment.
