Raven’s Steel
  Despite what the name suggests, Raven’s steel doesn’t describe a material but rather a rating on the von Rabenkrone psionic artifact scale. This scale describes the potency, rarity, and artistry involved in the creation of an item. The scale, from highest to lowest grade, is Raven’s platinum, gold, silver, steel, bronze, and copper. All items produced by the Rabenkrone family are rated according to this scale before they enter circulation. Items rated bronze or copper are typically produced by novices or apprentices and are normally recycled for materials while silver and gold rated items are prohibitively expensive and nearly impossible to find without connections within the family itself. This leaves Raven’s Steel as the only “common” artifact rating found on the larger market and so has become the de facto name for Rabenkrone artifacts. While a platinum rating does exist, there are officially only six in existence with two being gifted to the imperial family and the other four kept securely in the Rabenkrone family vaults.
