The Enigmatic House Rabenskrone.
While other houses claimed their place in the Great Houses with Military might or Economic power or perhaps even just good marriages, House Rabenskrone has risen to Prominence by nothing other then being good Bureaucrats and avid Scholars. Claiming Heritage to the Old Earth Germanic Regions, their founding myth Describes their Founder, Aurelia, witnessing a book burning by the Socialist forces in Europe trying to burn out Capitalistic ideals. So moved by this wanton destruction of knowledge, their Founder set out to bring artefacts, knowledge and law to the stars.
Now, hundreds years later House Rabenkrone is one of the 32 Imperial Families guiding us.
They are a House of Psionics. They have an unusually high amount of them. An expected rate is about 1% of the population becoming Psionics. However, within The Rabenskrone Family, this number has been observed to be more around 30 to 38%. This caused the family to develop into interesting and novel ways. Psionics are capable of creating Artefacts of unnatural power. A very popular item for every rich person in the Milky way are trinkets with weird and wonderful effects. Rabenskrone provides and built it's reputation as the Primer destination for Noble Psionically Imprinted items. Ranging from necklesses to swords to entire Ships. The sky is the limit for those with the Cash, power and influence to afford the Services of their family. They also Teach Psionics from across the Galaxy willing to be taught and stay with them. Some, with special talents and gifts may be given the distinct Honor of becoming adopted.
As mentioned before, the Rabenskrone's are not only Psionics, they are also Scholars. Their Vaults in Grimmsrabe are said to be filled with Tomes, Data and Artefacts.
The House of the Raven's Scholars are renowned for their secret, they jealously keep. Having developed a specialized language, both written and spoken, that requires to be seen, heared and psionically transmitted to be truly comprehended. It is notoriously difficult to learn, understand and most importantly for the Ravens, difficult to crack by those wanting to steal the knowledge.
It is not suprising then that their House Guard, the Kronenwacht, is also filled with Psionics. A small well trained group stationed in major Lawfirm locations and at home primarily. Their duty is it to protect the Knowledge from those wanting to take it, defile it or use it without permission. Curiously, they do not allow non-Psionics to progress above the Non-Commissioned Officer ranks. Speculation has it, that this is a Security concern while others claim it is because they are just bigoted against those without the gifts. Regardless of what it is, they are, among the most respected House Guards by discipline and capabilities for their size.
Rabenskrone's Head of the House is also not chosen by normal Inheritance. Instead of a Singular Sacred line followed generation by Generation the Family is electing in a Conclave who the next one shall be to lead their House. One Unanimous Vote. Anonymous and no communications with the outside until it is done.
