Classis
Classis are the Combat Arm of the Navy. Large Fleets Organized as Semi-Independent Units for Deployment, Assault, Defense or any other Measure the Empire needs.
Classis have in comparison to National or Coalition Navies a lot of Independence. They are only mandated Certain Standards set by the Empire for inter Classis Compatibility. Other then that they can request their own Ships, their own Recruitment, Tactics, Compositions, Traditions and even Rules of Engagements to a Degree. With this Freedom they are a lot of Loyalty fostered and are usually attached to a certain Sector, Region of Space or even Star System.
Even though that is alot of Freedom the Admirals of the Classis are still Bound to follow Imperial orders, get their Region from the Empire, the Ships, Weapons and manpower from it. Also a couple of Required mix is Required with every 6 Years a few Captains and other Officers get Swapped around. The Control of the Commander Admirals Leading the Classis is a Highly sought after for all sorts of Power Groups. While they cannot intervene in Internal Matters, they can go onto the Privy Council of the Empress and whisper ideas into the most Powerful Ear. They also sit on the Subject Assembly and in some Sectors even sit on their Senate as a Special Senator. Regardless they also choose where to Strike and that can be a Powerful tool for Nobles, Corporations and Politicians alike.
