Wolfsbane
Wolfsbane is an infamous and dangerous plant that grows throughout Tregaron, but is much more common within
Vilstrung. It is a poisonous flower that blossoms exclusively from dead bodies; and is most often seen in the north due to the bloated corpses that massive beasts leave behind.
Anatomy
Wolfsbane grows from knobbly but stiff roots that end with sharp points, designed to anchor it into soil while it sprouts from a corpse. It is often called the Deathbell due to the drooping petals of the flowers that grow from a purple-veined stem. Wolfsbane flowers are unique in the sense that they slowly wilt and drop hard seed pods into the ground when it dies. These seed pods are very hardy, but light enough to be blown by the winds. This allows them to disperse across the soil until another beast dies on top of them, where the flower will slowly spread through its corpse.Corpse Blossom
Wolfsbane only grows from corpses, and will never sprout from anywhere else. While many creatures in Vilstrung can be found freezing beneath the permafrost, Wolfsbane holds a unique function in rapidly breaking down and decomposing the body until it's a pile of bones.Toxicity
Wolfsbane is legendary for its very toxic qualities. It earns its name for the myth of it being capable of killing an entire pack of wolves with one flower; this of course, is just a myth. The flowers and seeds themselves are actually entirely edible, it's the root and stems that make them dangerous.First, y'sweat everything that isn't your blood from your body. Tears. Sweat. You drool like a dog. Then? Y'stop movin', your heart stops pumpin', and your lungs quit pullin' air.
