The Great Book of Shame

The Great Book of Shame, also known as the Drevan'Shal in Elven tongue, is a massive grimoire cataloguing all the slights committed against the Elven people. It names every last person, place, event, or object deemed so vile that their very existence brings shame and outrage to the entire Elven race. To be written in the Drevan'Shal is considered to be the greatest shame to bear; as it marks one for life as an enemy to the Elven people.   Each name written inside the Drevan'Shal is expected to be resolved or struck out eventually. They are rewarded handsomely by earning their very own place within the sister book of the Drevan'Shal, known as the Book of Ballads.   Only the Heliarch holds authority high enough to write names into the Drevan'Shal, and likewise only they carry the means to erase, strike out, or deem one of the shames inside the Drevan'Shal resolved.

Controversy

Although the Drevan'Shal is strictly a Sun Elven artifact, the Sun Elves hold a firm belief that all Elves should stand united as one. The Drevan'Shal and Au'Ralshal are thus both expected to be venerated within not just Sun Elven cultures, but other Elven cultures.   This often leads to feuds and disputes with their kin, whom usually hold a much more isolationist outlook on life.
