Shax

The God of Murder

Shax is the stork-headed Asura of seizing, theft, and taking by force.   He is reviled as the God of Murder; for life is the most precious thing to take.   Shax is associated with many things, but is foremost seen as a deity that embodies the darker shadow of society. Craven thieves, vengeful killers, or mad murderers flock to him in hopes of earning his favour.

Depictions

Shax is depicted as a winged man with a bird's head; typically a long necked bird such as a stork, egret, or crane with a very long, pointed beak. His beak is always bloodied. Often times, he's depicted wielding a cleaver.

The Bloody Hand

The Bloody Hand is Shax's typical unholy symbol; it's a man's hand print in red. These prints are typically left on walls in the blood of fresh kills and placed above gouged eyes used as offerings in his name.

Worship

Shax does not barter in traditional worship; he works in deals. Active worship of him is seldom seen and typically only found within exclusive covens that are kept close to the shadows; even the most heinous of thieves guilds refuse to steal in his name.   Stolen goods are offered to Shax in exchange for boons and blessings that allow them to continue their deeds. Most infamously is his love for eyes, especially mortal ones. Bloodshot, plucked eyeballs are a proven sign of devotion to Shax. His blessings are many;   A thief's steps may sound softer on the hardest of floors, or their knife may be just sharp enough to pierce the thickest of armour and find its mark.    With such a transactional following, much of Shax's 'worship' is typically done through personal vendettas or oaths swearing vengeance.
