King Theldar Kardek (a.k.a. The Missing King)
Great halls once adorned in gold and gems and statues of ancestors once clad in platinum armour now lay bear, the stone revealed beneath with only tool marks to show there was anything else. At the end of these halls is the immense throne, laying empty waiting for the king to return.
In a quiet tavern, a lonely Dwarf sits, wanting to be forgotten and left to his drink. Despite no longer wearing it, the crown still sits heavy on his head.

Personal history
Despite not having a father, Theldar was able to keep his mother's caste thanks to the intervention of the King. Despite being of noble caste, as soon he was of age Theldar joined the army in an attempt to fight against Duegar and Tear Spawn in the Deep mines and Underdark.
It wasn't till his 170th birthday that he grew tired of the king's belief that the kingdom could regain its wealth if it dug deep enough, he soon began to try and convince more and more noble houses that in order to save the country they needed to look outward to other countries or other potential resources rather than the ore they were known for.
Soon the King began to grow ill, most believing that his son was the poisoner. During this time most thought the Prince would be voted in by the noble houses, but as an upset none seemed to have expected, Theldar was instead voted in as King. Not long after this, Theldar began to make good on his promises and for the first time in ages, Darnia was beginning to recover.
Unfortunately, those that preferred the old ways of thinking responded poorly to Theldars radical way of thinking. Led by the former Prince, this group had Theldars wife, son and daughter killed and laid bare in the main hall of the Darnia noble district. The rebels ordered the king to step down or there would be more bloodshed.
To the surprise of many, Theldar agreed. Before the whole of the Darnia capital, Theldar stepped down and seemingly vanished onto the surface. However, what few rarely mention is that the leading members of the rebels, including the prince, were found beaten to death in their homes with the royal Hammer.

As with most nobles of Darnia, Theldar received an excellent education from dwarven tutors. Theldar's mother (the king's advisor) also had him study under several Ennesland professors.
