Dwarf
Kingdoms rich in ancient grandeur, halls carved into the roots of mountains, the echoing of picks and hammers in deep mines and blazing forges, a commitment to clan and tradition, and a burning hatred of goblins and orcs—these common threads unite all dwarves.
Or at least they did, the dwarves of Vesax have begun to grow cold to one another as many grow unsure of how the race should continue after the mines of Darnia ran dry.

Basic Information
Anatomy
They stand well under 5 feet tall, dwarves are so broad and compact that they can weigh as much as a human standing nearly two feet taller. Their courage and endurance are also easily a match for any of the larger folk.
Dwarven skin ranges from deep brown to a paler hue tinged with red, but the most common shades are light brown or deep tan, like certain tones of earth. Their hair, worn long but in simple styles, is usually black, grey, or brown, though paler dwarves often have red hair. Male dwarves value their beards highly and groom them carefully.

Social Structure
The Dwarven society of Vesax has a rigid and strict caste system that governs most of the daily lives of dwarves. A dwarfs caste is determined at birth by the child's gender, female children take the mothers caste while a son would take the fathers caste, if a parent makes no claim to the child then the child becomes a low caste, or in rare cases, a casteless. The majority of Dwarves are considered commoner caste. Within the castes is a tier system, this determines how respected the group is. Dwarves are also able to petition the crown to allow them to switch castes within their tier (Ex. A merchant becomes a miner) or to have their spouse join their caste.
- Casteless: Exiles, criminals, deserters
- Low caste: Servants, general labourers (made up mostly by illegitimate children)
- Commoner caste: Hunters, merchants, artisans, builders, traders, miners
- Respected castes: Warriors, smiths
- Noble Caste: Nobles, royalty
Geographic Origin and Distribution
The largest number of dwarves live in Darnia, most populating the large underground cities in the mountains, but some may also live on the surface.

Naming Traditions
A dwarf’s name is granted by a clan elder, in accordance with tradition. Every proper dwarven name has been used and reused down through the generations. A dwarf’s name belongs to the clan, not to the individual. A dwarf who misuses or brings shame to a clan name is stripped of the name and forbidden by law to use any dwarven name in its place.
History
The oldest records the dwarves posses describe the race hiding beneath the surface during the era of the Ignighted lord and resurfacing in roughly 800 B.F.O.
After surfacing, the Darnia kingdom traded with the Orstad for the majority of its reign, only shifting trade to the rebellion when it began to grow. After the fall of Orstad, the Darnia began to supply nearly everyone.
The underground cities of Darnia are at an almost constant state of defence or all-out war with Duegar in the Underdark or Tear spawn swarming into the mines. The next major event was when Darnia began to run dry in all of its mines and were pushed back by Duegar troops or Tear spawn from any of the UnderDark they had hoped to expand into.
