Amazon
Perhaps they were once humans that mixed blood with other races, or they were always something unique. Regardless, the amazonians are a large humanoid race often mistaken for common humans typically ruled in matriarchal clans and tribes.
Basic Information
Anatomy
At first glance, most amazons are mistaken as larger humans, but at a closer glance there are some differences helpful for identifying an amazon vs a human.
- Amazons are at a minimum of six-foot.
- Amazons have slightly larger canine teeth.
- Amazons have almost no body fat
- Females are larger than males
Genetics and Reproduction
When a female amazonian breeds with a non-amazon, the child will always be an amazon, though may have small traits from the father.
When a male breeds with a non-amazon, it's a 25% chance for it to be an amazon. If it isn't, then they'll be a stronger version of the mother's race.
Additionally, while rare, there are occasionally half-bloods. Half-bloods are when an Amazon has a physical body of a female but possess male anatomy. Half-bloods are treated as women in terms of roles and are highly prized as a clan member.
Growth Rate & Stages
Amazons mature around the same rate as a human.
Ecology and Habitats
Amazons can live in almost any environment.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Many people believe that the Amazonians are a purely female race, this is a myth. There are males among the amazons, though they tend to be slightly shorter and get mistaken for humans often.
Another common reason male amazons are overlooked is that most amazon groups are matriarchal.
While male amazons do exist, they are born less often than female amazons with roughly one male birth per 7-10 females, this means most amazon clans treat males as precious commodities.
While amazon clans won't ban males from fighting, most will have the males wait until after they reach an older age (30's or up) or until there are more males at breeding age.

Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Most clans use a clan-based naming structure (Last name = Clan) followed by the name of their parent, if meeting a man, they use their father's name, if meeting a female, you use your mothers' name.
This has resulted in some confusion when dealing with Asteria.

Beauty Ideals
Scars are sexy.
Gender Ideals
Women are warriors and leaders, men are breeders and support.
While at first glance most would assume it is merely human patriarchal tendencies reversed, but men have far more freedom among amazons than women with most humans.
Men rarely go on raids but may still participate in large hunts.

Courtship Ideals
Most often amazons enter same-sex marriages with another woman while males are passed around as needed, though there is nothing baring mixed-gender couples as long as there are more breeding males around to take their place or the couple agrees to open marriages.
Amazons have no restrictions on marriage partner numbers, most often having polyamorous relationships.

Major Language Groups and Dialects
The most common language used in Amazon clans is primordial.
Common Dress Code
While dress code matters little, the Frost bloods and Islanders use body paint or tattoos to mark themselves with their clan colours.
This tradition seems absent with the Sandwalkers who put more preference on piercings or scarification instead.

Culture and Cultural Heritage
Once long ago, the Frost blood Amazons and northern humans both lived in a distant land with sailing to more islands and countries in order to raid them, it wasn't till around 4-5 thousand years ago that a large number of them settled in Vesax.
Curiously, both the sand walkers and islander amazons seem to be native to Vesax but still share many traditions with their frozen kin.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
Typically amazons leaders are determined by hunts or raids, those with the best prize can offer it to the current leader. If the leader accepts the prize they then step down.
In the event the leader refuses more than one prize, elders of the clan will look at the prize. If the elders determine the prize was fair and should not have been refused, the chief and the challenger can have a test of combat, typically to the death.

Common Myths and Legends
During the Donze expansion era, the northerners and amazons were recruited to aid against the enemy forces. While at first, this proved extremely successful until they encountered the Sykegnland calvary. The northern troops were devastated in every encounter. Rather than grow resentful for this, the amazons found immense respect for the southerners, even centuries later the amazons tell stories of the southern warriors and their horsemen.
If a Sykengland trader ever makes their way far enough north to meet Northerners they are usually treated as honoured guests, and commonly receive invitations to demonstrate their strength.
