Blackwind
"It is told that the Dread Lord Narhkin was once a man like any other, and like most men, he loved and lost. None tell it the same way twice, but each of story his supposed love put her somewhere along the great river "Graverun", which originates somewhere in the peaks of Gravenspine Ridge. Men and women from Blackwind are the first to tell that it is merely a fancy, that no such woman could exist, as the Barrow-King Nahrkin was born ten feet tall, with horns and fangs as he tore himself out of the monstrous hag who birthed him. Others will whisper that after the unjust murder of his love, he went mad, but was still only a man when he tore his heart out of his chest and proclaimed a curse on the land and people who broke his heart."
Blackwind itself takes its name from the story that has been told for centuries, supposedly located on the very spot from which a dark virulent plague spread so long ago. It is walled in stout wooden palisades, with stone gatehouses flanking both main roads in and out of the town. It houses a modest few hundred, but more people come to Blackwind every day looking for fieldwork, hunting or farming. Those who can survive the dangers that roam the countryside of the tomb hills can make a good life for themselves near Blackwind, despite its sordid past.
