Digging in Dangerous Holes

In August of 1948, FBI Agent Arthur North meets Darien O’Connell after stumbling into knowledge of vampires during an investigation into several bodies that have been turning up in Memphis drained of blood. Turns out, Darien O’Connell has been looking into why the bodies are showing up too.
  “Vampires?” Arthur said incredulously, digging into his suit pockets to pull out his cigarette case and lighter. As he tapped one out and lit it, he looked at the other man and asked, “Smoke?”
  Darien O’Connell laughed and reached out a hand, saying, “Well, they won’t kill me, so sure.”
