Desperate to escape from her life in the Smith clan, Marie Smith goes looking for Ebio and her child Itztli in order to make a deal with them. She buys her freedom with the life of an innocent woman...and the promise of her firstborn.

Marie Smith, newly fled to Ireland from her home of England after her deal with Ebio, travels to the home of the Hancóc witches allied with her clan to hopefully make a deal with them. Despite his reservations, Tirlagh Hancóc makes an oath to her.
