Valyria
Scorpio 22, 1486 (Sol)
Here you will find the latest recap for the campaign as we progress through the story. I will do my best to post it the Monday after each session.
Right after Elrin proposed to make a deal with the devil of the sea, Minos admitted his hoof-shaking fear. Once the thirty or so crew, which were released from the hold, boarded the Mermaid's Curse. The party took a moment to look around while Elrin slowly made his way up to the captain's quarters. Elrin found murky old water and bones but was unsure what clue that would allude to. Gimble discovered that the ship itself was guarded by a heavy enchantment spell to protect against teleportation and to regenerate the ship.
Elrin opened the surprisingly empty captain's chambers, and the door closed behind him before locking. He took the opportunity to look around. He found a map of Valyria that he didn't recognize, which portrayed the continent as one big island. The map had been wet and dry many times, but it was still clear that it was older than most dwarves. In addition, he perused letters on a desk with noble elven seals - seals with the Galanodel insignia.
Following the room submerging in water, and emptying once more, Nym Daero appeared before Elrin in all his undead glory. Elrin had a valiant attempt at swaying the cruel and brutal Nym Daero, but still his was just another puppet in Nym Daero's palm. At the end, for all Elrin asked for, he had two things he needed to do for Nym Daero. In the meantime, Nym Daero would either hold on to Kurageko or Abyssus' Soul stone. Elrin chose Kurageko.
At the same time, Kurageko in hold is chained to the ship with manacled manifested from its will. Gimble, upset at the outcome, exposed that everyone in the party knew Kurageko for a long time. Since the deal had already been made, Kurageko urged the party to leave before Nym Daero changed his mind. To return to the Mermaid's Curse the party rode in a lifeboat ferried by Darien and Jacob, Elrin and Zurie's fathers respectively.
Once they reached the Mermaid's Curse, Darien pulled Elrin in for a hug, and expressed how proud he was of his son for becoming a captain. He warned that during difficult times, people will always blame the captain, but if I was right in his heart than nothing else matters. Darien told his son one last time that Elrin could do it - whatever it is does not matter.
Elrin called Zurie down to the lifeboat to meet with her father one last time. Jacob acknowledges that he could finally move on, but he had some words to share with her as well. Jacob told Zurie that even when it’s hard to accept your fate, there is no shortcut and no bargain to be made that will save you.
Those are two lessons I wish I had learned sooner. Before the party could retire for the evening, Khokkave appeared on the ship in a flash of lighting. In a blink of an eye, Khokkave had Elrin pinned against the wall by his throat. Khokkave let him go after reading the note from Kurageko, but then a lot of fingers were pointed at a lot of different people. However, Gimble explained that the party changed things when they went to the past. Karma had a voice that was taken by Venenum. Minos study wizardry. Elrin's crew hated him and Kirin used to be on the Fall of the Damn. Zurie was the reincarnation of Kurageko who was once dead and gave up her soul to Abyssus when she was twelve. When the party realized Kurageko had been with them the whole time, Minos gave the concept validity by pointing out all the missing parts of his pictures.
Through lots of explaining, the party tried to get on the same page. A lot of details were revealed about each person, as well as the experiences of what the party accomplished in the past.
To wrap up the night, Khokkave asked to speak with Elrin in private where upon he apologized for the first time in years - at least in this lifetime. Khokkave then told Elrin the story of the Daughter of the Sea. On Khokkave's way out afterwards, Minos stopped him to get Khokkave to help describe Kurageko so that Minos could draw her into the pictures where she was missing.
On the morning of Scorpio 21st, the Mermaid's Curse set sail towards Zartos. Zurie and Elrin discussed a plan about how Elrin was not going to plan. Elrin told the party about the story Khokkave told him. Gimble attempted to go over everything that happened in the past. Before the day end, Elrin finally spoke with his mother. Elrin discovered the existence of his great uncle who was perhaps the relative from his dream. Elrin also uncovered that Haemir wasn't always evil, instead he was consumed by power over time.
On the following morning, Andromeda appeared to recharge Gimble's emblem. She marched around the ship handling various matters of business. Firstly, Andromeda got Zurie's approval for a proper surgical office and home aboard Zurie's ship. While specking with Madeline a little later, Elrin pulled Andromeda aside to help repair her relationship with Minos. In the early afternoon, Andromeda wrapped up her business by unpacking her clinical supplies into her new room with the help of Sylvir. Minos stopped by and the conversation ended with Andromeda offering to go to dinner with him.
Before a majority of the party entered the Ye Olde Yak, Zurie spoke with Xander about finding a first mate with her. During that conversation, Xander gifted Zurie the location of Nadine's newest hideout, which he found a long time ago but never gave to Zurie. Finally, it was time for dinner and the party - minus Minos - entered the Ye Olde Yak once more. However, this time they were greeted by silence and judging eyes.
