Bandit Kingdoms

The Bandit Kingdoms encompass the land east and south of the Druthain Wood all the way to the sea. Centuries ago, it was an untamed wilderness home to monsters and ruthless band of humanoids under the leadership of a particularly brutal Hobgoblin Warlord named Gorthok the Flayer. Gorthok and his minions raided the Kingdom of Merrin and the towns to the west swiftly, returning to the wilderness before they could be stopped. A band of adventurer's from Merrin decided to put an end to the depredations of Gorthok. They were a halfling named Finn Stoutheart, a dwarf named Dagmar Forgeborn, a human named Marcus Brightshield and an elf named Aeron Starwhisper. Together they were known as the Starshield Brotherhood.   They struggled against Gorthok and his infernal allies for many years. When they finally defeated him, they set about to tame the wilderness and create realms of their own. With the spoils gained from their victory, they were each able to carve out their own Kingdoms from the ashes. Today these lands are known as the Bandit Kingdoms. The name was given to the region by King Godric of Merrin who was not pleased that the adventurers he hired to rid the eastern wilderness of evil decided to claim it for themselves.

Structure

This spirit of independence runs deep within all of the people that live in the Bandit Kingdoms. Each of the four kingdoms operate autonomously only coming together when one of them is threatened by outsiders. Although known as kingdoms, they are actually powerful city-states that control vast areas around them. The largest is Finn's Landing on the banks of the Whitecap River and the shores of the Sea of Daemar. A powerful trading hub it boasts a substantial fleet. To the north lies the city of Shadowford strategically located where the Whitecap river splits off to become the Silver Trail river. It is home to the Starshield College of magic and controls all the boat trade heading up or down river. To the west is Ironwatch, the fortress city. Said to never have been breached, this walled city has a large, well trained fighting force. To the north is Khadul a city with a majority population of dwarves. Also know as the city of diamonds, not only for the wealth of it's mine, but also for the strength of it's people.
