Compiling The Swiftwind Chronicles
Lord of Oaksleigh Arthur Swiftwind summons you to his mansion in the countryside near the capital city of Bellaerie. When you arrive, he has a task for you only hinted at in the handwritten letter delivered to you via courier, and you are led with a small group of other adventurers Arthur has called here into the lounge of Lannora Ivy, the Swiftwind family's ancestral home. As you await Arthur, you have the opportunity to get to know your counterparts.
When Arthur arrives, he is accompanied by his sister Margaret Swiftwind, whose shrewd business sense and myriad talents match her brother's. With Margaret's reluctant but solid support, Arthur has gathered the funds to found a mercenary company in his family's name in order to launch a new enterprise for generations to come. However, this is not his only motivation; Arthur goes on to explain that while his life has been full of adventure and has inspired a number of songs and tales, no true record of his travels was ever made. No lasting personal legacy beyond the tall tales of his adventures that still persist will persist beyond Arthur's death, and the recent death of his own father, Victor Swiftwind, has compelled Arthur to settle down and focus on making his professional mark on the world. In keeping with this idea, Arthur is determined to have his personal mercenary company travel the same parts of the world that he once traveled, seeking out employment and adventure more or less at their own discretion, and all the while send journals and letters, make phone calls, and send telegraphs that will give Arthur the tales of heroic adventure he needs to write his book. While the mercenaries themselves may gain glory themselves, Arthur's pride would come from compiling the tales of their exploits into a volume of thrilling adventure stories as recalled by the adventurers themselves. The mercenary company would carry Arthur's family name, and the book documenting their travels would be titled The Swiftwind Chronicles.
After a time getting to know each other and Arthur's household, the Swiftwind Mercenary Company will gather up their resources and embark, setting off first into the countryside of Essenmark.
