The Weathered

The Weathered are a scattered diaspora of Mistkin who live outside the shelter of the Pluvia City . They are not a people by design but by distance—descendants of those separated during The Fracturing born in dry places where resonance is faint and tradition has worn thin.

Some lost the Veil through exile or accident. Others were born to parents who never knew what they were. A few turned away from the old ways by choice, choosing silence over ceremony. Most carry the blood of the Mistkin, shimmering silver when the rain returns, but they walk the world unseen by it.

They are called Weathered not because they are broken, but because they have been shaped by exposure—tempered by a world that does not remember them. Their connection to ancestral rituals is often fragmented or improvised. Stories passed down by dream or lullaby are half-truths. Names are inherited, changed, or lost.

Relationship with the Clearborn

For many Weathered, the Clearborn Accord offers belonging where the Veil does not. The Accord’s rejection of tradition, reverence for autonomy, and defiance of inherited pain is deeply appealing to those who have grown up outside the Veil’s embrace.

Some join seeking power. Others join seeking purpose. The Clearborn do not ask how long ago you drifted—only whether you’re ready to stand with them now.

Still, not all Clearborn view the Weathered as equals. Some question their strength, their memory, their loyalties. And some Weathered reject the Clearborn in turn, seeing it as just another doctrine wrapped in different cloth.

Echoes and Identity

The Weathered are not unified, but they are everywhere. They build small gardens in places that never rain. They hum Veil lullabies in unfamiliar tongues. Some awaken. Some never will. But every storm brings the same quiet pull—a call back to something older than grief.

“We are not lost. We are remembering.”
