Tuskfair Ranch

You stretch your arms as you go down the stairs. The night was peaceful and filled with good feelings that warm your chest, yet you don't remember any dreams. One of the steps creak just as one of your arms also popped.

"Ah, good morning, Wayfarer", you hear Renaxer say as he is taking down the stools from the tables, "I haven't properly opened yet, but I left you a warm plate of food on the counter and a paper I'd like you to read". You quickly see the food, still steaming, and an old paper next to it, reminding you of the papers from the notice board.

While eating, you skim over the note. "My friend is a bit untrusty toward strangers, I think if you get on her good side, people will quickly trust you. She's asking for help with her ranch, easy help, would you consider it?" he says as he walks behind the counter and starts cleaning some plates.

The Ranch

Boar husbandry and a breeder of mules

The Tuskfair Ranch is one of the animal farms in town, and the one bringing over the most meat and furs. It started as a family business, but has expanded and started recruiting new workers after it was passed over to the family's daughter, Salemara.

The farm prides on the quality of their products and works constantly to improve the health and life of their animals. It grows boars for meat and mules for sell.

As you approach the forest on the back of the town, the ranch quickly shows it's buildings and fences. It's main building is right at the border of the forest, standing out with its bright red colours, almost distracting you from the start of the forest, showing ample animal pens with fabric roofs protecting them and attached to the trees' branches. In front, you can see a woman carrying over some heavy sacks, who stops mid way as she spots you, showing a stern stare.

Approaching her, you present yourself and give the paper that Renaxer gave you, mentioning that he send you over. Without a word, she eyes you up and down as she crossed her arms. She sighed. "That job is only for townsfolk. You strangers don't do more than bring problems, Wayfarer." she spit, but after a few moments, she scratched the back of her neck and sighed again. "I will trust Ren for this, but you better tell him that this will be the favour he owed me. Follow me, I'll show you the animals".

"Clean one of the boars' pens. Don't get hurt. Feel free to surrender if you feel unable to do so." is all she said. She did, at least, give you tools, but left quickly and left you to figure things out.

Did you know about dealing with animals? You don't remember. Surely it can't be that bad if she left you without explaining things. Time to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

After finishing cleaning, both Ashryn and Nieren come, curiously, to meet you. Not much time is given to you, as Salemara arrived with a small leather bag and the other two left back to their jobs.

"Well... nothing is broken and all my animals are alive and uninjured, the cleaning is not that bad either... You did good, here you have." she threw you the leather bag. It wasn't too heavy, but it made clinking noise. "This is for the job. It's not much, but it's what we pay other townsfolk. Don't expect the exorbitant pay adventurers demand. Tell Renaxer we'll meet later. I hope to see you around again, maybe you aren't too bad." she put one of her hands on one of your shoulders and tapped it twice before turning around and leaving back to her job.

You could have sworn she was smiling when she turned around.
