Crystal Ice Attacks of 1699
"As you peer through the window of the Greenspace Herbalist, you see a woman - human, in her early 30s or so - lying motionless on the rug. Her lips are blue and encrusted with a thin layer of frost, and her right hand is cut open from a half-broken glass mug. A damp coloration - the water from the mug - spreads in the rug beneath her."
The Crystal Ice Attacks of 1699 were a string of eco-terrorist attacks performed by an unidentified assailant in late Red Wolf Moon of the titular year. They were carried out by a single woman who apparently worshipped Polaris, a death god with dominion over winter; she performed these acts of ecoterrorism by poisoning upwards of fifty water wells on the Northside of Fenrir with a Fey substance known as Crystal Ice. The attacks were particularly effective as the majority of Fenrir lacks the convenience of running water. Following the attacks, nearly 200 deceased individuals were identified. However, it's likely that many more were killed in this incident due to the King's Glaive's predisposition to ignoring the deaths of homeless individuals. The confrontation with the unidentified woman occurred in a small shack within the Siltbottom Slums, Fenrir's poorest neighborhood. Saoirse Řhouv, Myra Todd, Kamaria ó Conchobhair, and Gnorman Gnotthåed faced her and several summoned Pixies as she bound the souls to an unknown arcane circle; however, the four managed to defeat the woman and save approximately one dozen souls from being bound to whatever she was doing.
Some individuals - including Tempestus branch head Dahlia and Orla Magilsinan - believe that these attacks were the beginning of a Grand Ritual. Dahlia identified the possibility of this being a precursor to the Everfrost, but is not yet sure.
