Lachesis Loom
Within the Birmingkasing Caves, past the The Motionless Sanctuary, and deep down in the labyrinthian Stafbour Subterrane is the mythical Diamond Chapel. Within this fabled chamber are the columnar structures known as the Lachesis Loom. They are described as shining alabastor pillars that reach from floor to ceiling, all different widths, clustered in a formation on the far end of the Diamond Chapel. Front and center among them is the face of a device that resembles something between a loom and the keydesk of a pipe organ.
In the stories, those who have found the Loom heard strange whispers and saw ghosts. As they listened to the whispers, they received a prophesy regarding their fates. Generally disregarding the whispers at first, they would leave the games and resume their lives. Inevitably, circumstances would prove the veracity of the predictions, and they would return to the Loom to try to change their fates. In some stories, this worked, but at a cost. In others, seeking the help of the loom actually brings the prophesy too fruition. The moral of most of these stories is to be weary of potentially self-fullfilling prophesies and to avoid meddling with poorly understood phenomena.
The origin of the name "Lachesis" is a further mystery. While some retellings exclude the name or apply a different one, the oldest recorded versions of this tale use the name "Lachesis Loom" for a seemingly haunted and prophetic formation of white pillars deep in the frozen Birmingkasing Caves. The only clue is on the ruin of a temple, which itself must have been old prior to the Darluna Depopulation Event. On a wall panel next to the broken remains of three statues of women are the words "Clotho Lachesis Atropos." It is unknown what these words mean. The final word, Atropos, is similar to the name of the undead god Atropus, but it is unknown if there is any connection.
If there is any truth to this myth, these columns could be stalegtites. It is unclear how they would have formed, as the caves are well and thoroughly frozen. Generally, you need dripping water to build such cave structures.
