Ironwatch
The Ironwatch is Ironholt’s military arm, an elite, disciplined force of warriors who protect the kingdom from external threats, such as dragon attacks or marauding bandits. They are also responsible for keeping the peace within the kingdom. Ironholt places great emphasis on physical and tactical strength, with an emphasis on smithing and engineering. The Ironwatch uses highly advanced weapons and defensive strategies, often incorporating the kingdom’s signature weapon—Titanstone-forged war hammers—into their military tactics.
The Ironwatch General leads the Ironwatch and is an influential member of the Council of Hammers. Ironwatch Captains and Stonewarden Captains report to the Ironwatch General, but otherwise independently command their divisions in the abscence of other directives. The general’s power is tempered by the fact that each Stonewarden Captain commands a number of elite soldiers and is empowered to act as they see fit in times of emergency.
The highest performing soldiers of the Ironwatch may gain an opportunity to join the Stonewardens. The Stonewardens are elite warriors trained to protect the most vital parts of the kingdom, such as the Titanstone mines and the royal halls. Stonewarden Captains are selected from within the ranks of the Stonewardens by the soldiers themselves. Captains are empowered to take whatever actions are necessary to defend the kingdom's resources and ensure the monarch's safety, even if that contradicts the directions of the Ironwatch General. The Stonewardens' sense of self-importance and insular nature have led to its members considering themselves separate from rest of the Ironwatch. This has led to political tension in the past, as the Stonewardens will occassionally leverage their willingness to cooperate to pressure the General's decisions on the Council of Hammers.
