Illuminaris

The radiant capital city of the Solithar Empire is strategically located on the Crescent Sea, making it a hub of commerce, culture, and political power. It is famed for its grand harbor, sprawling palace, and the University of Solithar.

Illuminaris is home to the centralized imperial monarchy, led by Emperor Dacian Valorith. The Imperial Palace is in the middle of the city, with the city center and road network radiating out from it. The High Council Hall is a more modest affair, positioned face to face with the main entrance of the palace right across the Central Square. The Hall acts as the center of governance for the empire. The High Council meets here in full view of the palace, often in its shadow. The Council advises the Emperor, and it includes representatives from the empire’s major regions, guild leaders, and scholars from the renowned University of Solithar.

The roads in and around Illuminaris are meticulously maintained, allowing for swift travel and communication. It is possible that they are the finest road network in all of Utania.

The Solithar Empire maintains strong diplomatic and trade ties with Thalassai. As such, the luxurious Thalassai Embasy is located not far from the Central Square. Ambassadors from Nyssgard and Elarond usually are granted modest offices in the High Council Hall when there are any in the city at all.

The University of Solithar furthers the Empire's priorities of strong infrastructure, trade, and military might. Nearly all government officials and important public functionaries carry degrees from the University. Solithar society values innovation, trade, and the arts. Craftsmen training at the university can develop skills in ceramics, glass, and textiles. A rare few graduates of the University may even get the chance to learn the trade secrets of crafting Solitharian silk. Any soldier who hopes to one day rise through the ranks of command must also attend at least some courses here.

The Artificers’ Guild of Solithar keeps its main offices in Illuminaris. As its members are rarely seen travelling between cities, rumor has it that the guild maintains a small portal network linking its offices in all the cities of the Empire.
