Amber Bastion

The Amber Bastion is a fortress located in the Ironspine Mountains along the northern border of the Solithar Empire. This position defends the major passes against incursions and serves as a key checkpoint on northern trade routes. The occupants of the fortress are mostly Solithar military and their families, as well as supporting roles and farmers.

The fortress is mostly self sufficient due to its remote location and so as to be prepared for invasions or other emergencies. The local farmers and hunters are able to supply sufficient food for the Bastion's needs. Loggers and craftsmen are able to meet most material needs as well. The wild land of the region is famously gorgeous, and the fortress has an excellent view from its position on the base of the mountains.

While the Amber Bastion makes for a great visit, few of the Solithar soldiers appreciate a posting here. It's distance from any other major settlements, let alone the core of the empire, tends to leave one bored and stifled in their career. While none would admit it, a good invasion to thwart might be welcomed as a means of dealing with both problems.
