Barrier War

Military action

The Barrier War was fought between the kingdom of Nörn and the dwarves of the Barrier Mountain range. The dwarves resisted the Nurnen pushes south as they did not want Nörn to surround their cities to the north and south, and so they blocked Nurnen settlers attempting to move through the mountains.

For five years the dwarves of the Barrier Mountains, chiefly those of Dach Kraki and Dach Borad, battled the Nurnen king and his army over the Nurnen settling of the region south of the mountains. The Nurnen wanted to settle in the south due to its fertile land and more hospitable clime, but the dwarves resisted, fearing encirclement and eventual destruction at the hands of the Nurnen. The result was a long conflict that seemed to be constantly bogged down in the same place for years at a time. Eventually, all sides tired of the conflict and the Peace of Krakis was signed, allowing the Nurnen to move south as long as they promised not to make any permanent settlements in the Krakis Gorge or Borad Pass.
