The Strumen Imperial Senate
A revival of the ancient Strumen Empire, the Imperial Senate is ruled by a body of representatives from various Strumen Tribes - many of whom remain reluctant of joining.
Since the Empire had collapsed as a result of political turmoil, the Strumen people have survived as scattered barbarian tribes living in conflict among their mortal enemies, the Ogres. United by a new King, the Empire was reborn again but under the watchful instructions of a Senate, voted by the people to keep a balance of power that lacked in the ancient days.
Binding stones carved by ancient shamans dedicated to the Elements sprinkle throughout the territory.
Structure
The Keisari is the sole ruling body, aided by a council Senate that handles the matters of public assembly and court.
The Keisari is rumored to possess the ability to see one's true nature through his glass ruby eye, to which the very nature of has spawned many tales of how he came to possess it.
The Keisari is not present within the walls of Stromgarde, his Caretaker - Logan Gavinhorn - serves as Regent. The Caretakers, train personnel to provide their service as Head of Household Duties, advisors to their lords as well as trained protectors, and are typically regarded as the same status as the master they serve.
Culture
Although a revival of the ancient Strumen Empire, it has taken diplomatic steps to involve the representatives and council of other tribes, with a goal of uniting the scattered Strumen clans.
Demography and Population
The people of Strumgarde split themselves into one of two parties pertaining to their personal values and beliefs.
Strumen Tribesmen
- Scattered tribes and wanderers unified under the Battle for Strumgarde.
- Clans identity is particularly important, as well as maintaining the family's name and banner.
- Due to lack of communication outside the Highlands, many Strumen Tribesmen are unaware of many current affairs between the Common-Folk Lands, and even who is sided with who. All they know, is they have a strong distrust for outsiders and a cultural hatred for ogress.
- Typically distinguished by a myriad of tribal tattoos, respect in displays of strength, and strongly held beliefs in tradition.
- Identifies them as part of the Lumborde military.
- Unfriendly towards the Strumen Tribesmen
- Generally clean-cut, militant, and disciplined.
- Above all else, they believe in Law, Order, and Justice.
Military
- Legate - Leading rank of the Strumen Legionnaires that are numbered in the 300's.
- Centurion - A veteran commander that heads up to 80 Strumen Legionnaires in a single Centuria.
- Elder-Prefect - Instructor of the Legionnaires. Held in high respect and expected to produce disciplined soldiers and adequate sparring arrangements between Centurions to ensure commanders are as fit as the men they lead.
- Strumen Bannermen - Soldiers of high respect and honor, Bannermen serve as both skalds reciting tales of glory amidst combat for means of raising morale and intimidating opposing forces, and as extensions of Centurions. If a Centurion were to fall in combat, Bannermen would collectively share leadership within their Centuria until the battle has ended - regardless of the outcome. Within a Centuria, there is a Bannerman for every ten Legionnaires.
- Strumen Legionnaires - Soldiers made up of volunteers from refugees and neighboring regions, Arathorian tribes-men and Militia-veterans from before the fall of Stromgarde. Although collectively smaller than most forces the Alliance has to offer, the Legionnaires' strength lies within their battle tactics and tight-knit formations, accompanied by embracing each soldier's strength of what they can offer to their Centuria, their band of battle-brothers. This dichotomy of discipline and battle-autonomy make the Legionnaires akin to a mobile hornet's nest.
Mythology & Lore
The Strumen people strongly hold ties to their ancient culture of the Pri-Strumen, the progenitor race of humans from Rotundri Mountains, and through which they have grown to accept elements of both the Light and the Primevals, as well as hero cults central to each tribes culture. Their faith in the Light draws from their stories of great and mighty heroes embodying the bravery and virtue of the Sun-Warrior, Tyrious. The story of Tyrious's sacrifice has many forms, but all end the same. The Sun-Warrior in an attempt to stop a great and powerful force of evil laid down his own life to ensure that the darkness underneath the Blue-Field Highlands never resurfaces. Meanwhile, their faith in the Primevals come from when the first human tribes developed in the Highlands. In a time long before their arrival, stone slabs built in a hedge formation encircled and known as Stones of Binding were uncovered and restored. Unbeknown to the tribes, these stones served as places of communion with the avatars of the Primevals - Four in all, each representing an element. In restoring these shrines, they gained the avatar's favor and established a form of communication between them and the Strumen shamans.
