Noble House

I wish I was noble. So f*cking noble. But I'm a Frese. I'm an Inkspawn.
— Yoran Therovin, Tiefling Musician
Not all nobles are equal. Some have far greater power and influence than others. If a noble family amassess enough military, economic, and political power to build and hold a Great Keep, they are given the honour of being called a Great House. While the keep is a symbol of status and cements the rank, a Noble House is far more than a powerful family. Most houses focus on finding a role to fill in the empire's economy. Be that running production mills, banking, or ruling over lands. In many ways they are similar to companies, in many others they are similar to ruling nobility, owning land, protecting its residents, and attending to judicial matters. The lord of a great house is known as a Highborn, regardless of what their status was upon birth.
