War, Justice, Honorable Combat

Tyr has a had a long and storied history, but his most famous story is of how he lost his right hand. During the Dawn War, there was fighting across the planes. Most of the fighting was against the Primordials, beings made at the dawn of creation in the Elemental Chaos. One of the worst was Kezef, The Chaos Hound. A giant dog with glowing red eyes, rotting flesh full of maggots and a ragged tail. Said to have been one of the 7 primordials made at the dawn of creation, this hound was constantly hungry and ate the souls of the Faithful. These were the souls of mortals that worshiped one deity in particular. A group of the gods, Tyr, Gond, and Mystra chased the hound throughout the planes before cornering it in Gehenna. They made a bet with the beast, as neither side could over power the other. The gods bet that Kezef couldn't break a chain made by Gond, God of Crafts. In exchange, Tyr had to put his right hand in the Hound's slavering jaws. The terms were accepted and Gond wrapped a length of sturdy chain around his neck. He then buried the end of the chain miles under the rocky terrain of The Barrens of Doom and Despair. As this was happening, Mystra wove a shroud of magic that was unbreakable, and self-repairing. As soon as Kezef realized he was truly stuck, he bit off Tyr's right hand and feasted on it's divine essence for centuries while trying to escape his prison.   His other great story came when during the Divine Ascension, when he was the only one to not follow Lord Ao's order to leave the Prime Material plane. He was defending a castle from the forces of the Abyss, as he slew the last demon with his warhammer, his eyes were plucked from his head. He then left the Material plane, forever scarred. As a greater deity, this did not affect his sight. But he was still affected by this punishment from Ao.
