Government

While the city is ruled by the sultan, there is a council of which different businessmen can buy a seat and thus ensure that they also hold a say in the administrative decisions of the city.  While there are only 6 seats (prompting subterfuge and assassinations to be common place), all seats do not need to be occupied for the government to run effectively

Defences

Unlike the other cities Barekbaal holds no standing military instead depending on the Caravan guards and mercenaries to defend the city in times of need for an agreed upon price.

History

Originally founded by the nomadic Barek people of the great central desert of the new world which migrated to Occalis after [---------] the city was seen as a haven for those poor and lost to build their fortunes. However, soon after the need for labour in the city became extremely large, the city would become ruled by the Cabals of slavers and traders who would profit off of people and eventually find their way into seats of power so they may grow the city to their liking. This has caused a city that is often heralded as a "Fake Jewel" one which seems to be opulent, modern and rich but in reality holds a dark underbelly of poverty and suffering.

Climate

While the climate is warm, it is not unbeareable instead seeming closer to the climate of a Tropical land. The rainfall of the city however is quite low which makes fresh water as well as the springs of the city something vital for the growth and maintenance of the city
