White Chocolate Café

Located on Geranium, this café is owned and operated by a couple and their children. White Chocolate Café is a short walk from the CKG base and is a popular breakfast and lunch spot. They serve a wide variety of drinks and pastries.

About

The café was founded in 994 APC by Marianne and Daniel Paul Despareaux. It had been Marianne's dream to open a small shop and provide a calm place to eat and get drinks. She and her husband worked as teachers until they saved enough money to purchase a space and open the café. The two and their four children are the main employees, which keeps the cost of staying open down.

Marianne is the owner, while Daniel is both the cook and chef. When the café first opened, the older three children worked alongside their parents. The oldest two, Danielle and Andrew, eventually left for college, with Danielle leaving a year after the café opened and Andrew heading to a school on Jere in 997. Adrienne signed as the co-owner in 999 and promised to take over ownership after her parents retired. Bernadette, the youngest, works as a cashier and server when not in school.
Despite minimal seating inside, the café is a popular hangout location. Its calm ambiance, open layout, and bright lighting make it an excellent place to get schoolwork done while sipping a cup of hot chocolate, meet up with a friend for an hour or two, or have a quick lunch while on break from work. Its proximity to the main CKG base is also a bonus, as many CKGs will stop in for a drink while walking through town.   The café is currently staffed by Marianne Despareaux, owner; Daniel Paul Despareaux, chef and cook; Adrienne Despareaux, co-owner, server, and cashier; Bernadette Despareaux, server and cashier; and Jace Adams, part-time cashier.

Layout

White Chocolate Café is located on Philips Street in the "shopping area" of town, between two other storefronts. The front of the café has large glass windows and the door indents into the building. The counter is shaped like an "L", with one half against the back wall and the other along the left side of the room. The registers are on the counter between the coffee machines and a display of mugs, while a pastry case is built into the left counter. High-top tables that seat two are located in front of the windows and additional seating can be found to the right upon entering.

Ambiance

White Chocolate Café has a bright, warm feel to it. The open layout and white walls make the space feel bigger, while minimal seating and decorations prevent it from feeling crowded. Danielle Despareaux, the owner's oldest daughter, designed the color
White Chocolate Cafe Floor Plan
This is the floor plan for the White Chocolate Café, drawn by me. This is my first time making a map on World Anvil since I'm terrible at drawing maps in general. Floor plans are weirdly easy, even if I've forgotten all of the symbols used by architects and just make up my own and write in the rest.   How did I actually draw and save this? I drew it on a Rocketbook, which saved it as a PDF, which I then had to ask my father to change into an image, which I then uploaded to World Anvil. I've saved it as an image too, just in case. Aside from being convoluted and complicated, it wasn't stressful. I think I'll do it again one day.
palette to evoke calm and focus. Unless patrons ask for to-go cups, the servers will bring drinks in a variety of glasses and mugs. Daniel and Marianne have a large collection of various mugs, letting each patron feel welcomed and unique.

Author's Notes

I really hate the way the map automatically zooms in when it loads and the way it fits in the article, but I am proud that I managed to finally make a map after being on World Anvil for almost five years.

I love the map of the facility! Your pins and the descriptions are all wonderful and give a great sense of the cafe building - "This is where the back door would be, if I'd REMEMBERED TO DRAW IT" made me laugh! :D Nice cozy cafe, I wish I could visit in real life!

Thank you! I'm glad the map came out well. Adding the sarcastic commentary was my favorite part :) I'm happy you liked the article and the cafe!

If you go to the map settings, and then initialization, you can set the default zoom level on the map and make it load more zoomed out. Hope that helps!   I love this place. It sounds so cosy and warm. AND I, FOR ONE, AM GRATEFUL FOR THE BATHROOM.

Thank you! I was able to successfully change it! My first productive thing done this week lol.   Thank you for reading! I'm glad you like it. And yeah, I agree the bathroom is probably a good idea.
