Tomas

Tomas is the Celestial of thieves. He is known for his friendship with Dolores and his secret marriage with a Nir Tivarenul woman from before the Celestial War.
I told you to stop talking! I don't want to hear it. Not when you've never watched someone you love die simply because they are mortal and you are not!
— Tomas to Dolores

History

Tomas was born a Celestial to unknown parents on an unknown planet. He mentioned to Dolores in one of their recorded conversations that his parents were thieves, which likely contributed to his domain. He may have been taught how to steal and get away with it, but his comments on his childhood are few and far between.

Tomas's first appearance in mythology comes in the form of a tale from Stelsa about forbidden love. As near as anyone can tell, this is the story of how Tomas met the person he eventually married, a young Nir Tivarenul woman. Tomas was traveling and visiting her village. Despite attempts by her family to keep them apart, the two fell in love and left Stelsa together. They married and lived together for years, but she refused to allow Tomas to turn her into an Eternal and died of old age.
A letter sent to Nicole mentions how much of a change his wife's death brought about in him. Before she died, Tomas was a happy, mischievous man who used his powers and talents for amusement. He would often steal from wealthy men and hand the profits off to the poor with a twinkle in his eye. Sometimes he would put on escape shows for towns he lived in. Afterwards, though, he was never the same.
When Tomas appears in Celestial legends, he already carries the weight of his grief with him. Because of his past sorrow, he becomes startlingly close with Dolores, the Celestial of sorrow, and her counterpart Terico, the Celestial of sadness. Tomas rarely interacted with other Celestials prior to the Celestial War, but appeared to get along with several Dark Celestials, such as Jikar and Isidore, he and fought alongside them during the war.
I was the Celestial of thieves, after all. It wasn't hard to fit in, to draw up my old moralsand tell my old jokes. It wasn't that the Light Celestials didn't like me, but it was easier to pretend to be someone else around the Dark ones.
— Tomas
Following the Celestial War, Tomas became even harder to track down. His only appearances were with Dolores or occasionally by himself on planets with bustling cities and large populations. He quickly became known as a peoples' Celestial, spending much of his time with mortals, although never staying in one place for long. He is mentioned by other Celestials only in passing, referred to as a quiet man who keeps to himself.

Magic & Powers

Tomas is known to have mostly kinetic magic, but also hints of mental and arcane. Like all Celestials, he can age-shift and teleport. He can move small objects at will and teleport them wherever he wants. He also has enhanced reflexes. Tomas is able to truly shapeshift his body to adjust his appearance. Most Celestials use illusions or traditional methods, but Tomas can physically alter what he looks like. Several of the more magically-inclined Celestials claim that he is a terrible thief without his powers.

Appearance & Renderings

Tomas can change his appearance and age and often does so, but he is usually depicted as a short man with tan skin and blond hair. He wears average clothes that allow him to blend in easily. His hair is messy and his eyes are brown. When he met his wife, they were described as warm, but they have grown cold since her death. He has thin scars on the inside of his index fingers.   Tomas is not a popular Celestial in artwork, but the tragic story of his wife has often inspired artists to create works of the two. Tomas is usually depicted with his wife, whose appearance changes drastically from picture to picture. He appears in a painting with Dolores and Terico, standing off to the side. Another image of him shows two other Dark Celestials listening to him talk.
He has not let his sadness bring him down. Her death broke him, but he kept going. He was there to show the rest of us there was more to life.

Author's Notes

I think I'll add more to this at some point, or perhaps I'll elaborate on how he helped the other Celestials through a different article.
