Characteristics

Physical features

A penetrating chill precedes the Maldazzar’s appearance. The shadows deepen, elongating like gnarled, skeletal fingers. The death knight being stands strong and straight-backed, sharp as a dagger, with weathered, hawkish features that might have once been handsome. Dark green, layered plate forming an armor protects the man’s form, evoking something akin to a paladin. He leans on a greatsword of onyx bone and rare metal.

History

In life, Maldazzar Rivendare was a rich landowner in the Orrin empire and a friend to Tezzeret, who convinced him to join the Cult of the Damned. As he member of the cult, jealousy and paranoia drew Maldazzar away from the righteous path of his goddess Cyrrollalee. After Tezzeret rebirth, Maldazzar betrayed those he claimed to love, bringing destruction down upon them and himself. He might have sought redemption for his past, but Maldazzar was eventually turned in a death knight by the archlich and became the second in command of the cult, becoming a champion of the undead.   Maldazzar now deeply resents the living and spends his restless undeath in service of Tezzeret. He carries out his evil missions with intense focus and ruthless efficiency. However in death, Maldazzar has also rediscovered the honor that escaped him in life. He observes the rules of knightly conduct on the battlefield, which means he never strikes an unprepared opponent and never cheats to win. Even still in combat he is a fearless opponent who will not hesitate to destroy a foe he deems worthy of his attention, and he will hunt down anyone who dares interfere with his plans.   After the first defeat of Tezzeret, Maldazzar held Alterin against the neighboring realms.   It is unknown if Maldazzar is dead or not.
