Pyrrhan

Family Names depend on the clan of a person. the Five Clans are: Fyrs, Omar, Hammond, Shire, and Quen.

Female and male names are indistinguishable. Sample names include: Aiden, Samuel, Bella, Piett, Galen, Draco, Regis, Faith, Lucette

Pyrrhan is a mish-mash of languages that blends Draconic phrasing, dwarfish verbs and nouns from the common tongue. As a result, it is possible for speakers of those languages to understand some of what a Pyrrhan speaker is talking about.

Pyrrhans are very interested in the group, and the perfect example of their thinking is ¨How can we do better?¨ as opposed to ¨How can I help the group do better?¨. Responsibility never falls on one person, it is always at least two people. People who stick out in a bad way are given rehabilitation, while those who stick out in a good way are typically promoted to positions of power where they have little contact with others.

Pyrrhans shake hands with their left hand.   Eating is done with implements called quen, which look like a combination of knife and fork. Food is held in place with a sien, which has curved pines. Both instruments are used to bring food to the mouth.   Soups are eaten by scooping out and eating all the solids, then drinking the broth.

Pyrrhan clothing consists of a white shirt made from hemp, and brown pants made from wool. during the summer months, it is typical for people to go shirtless due to the heat. it almost never gets cold enough in Pyrrhos to require additional layers, but when it does people will wear linen cloaks.   The Military uses scale mail, and shields painted different colors to match the clan of the warrior. Boots are used to protect the feet, and are typically hardened around the toe and sole.

The Church of Seven is the uniting Human faith, a church shared by many other Races. Ayatollah is the principal human god, and his domain is nature. Other gods include Polaris, who governs journeys; The Oracle, who reads the past to shape the future; The Conductor, God of Society and Music; Ward, God of War and protection; Gemini, God of Truths and Lies, similarities and opposites, and Life and Death. The final God of the Church of Seven is Gaia, lord of the seas and oceans. The church is not part of any government, and priests generally do not choose one god to follow, taking lessons from all the gods. Those priests that choose to follow one god are called Clerics, and give up flexibility for power.   Marriage takes many different forms across cultures, but is most commonly between one man and one woman. the nature of marriage is dependent on the society, and in some cases, the social standing of the persons involved.   A community is expected to care in part for each child. one year after birth, children are sent ¨on rotation¨ living with each person in the community for a period of a year or so, familiarizing themselves with the little quirks of that family.

The deceased are buried beneath fruit trees, so that even in death some part of an individual may be useful to society.   Many other cultures will refuse to consume fruits grown in Pyrrhos for this exact reason.

A human will always use their primary weapon in their left hand, even if it is their off hand (5% chance). To wield a weapon in your right hand signifies that one has forsaken the gods, and will not protect others.

Many Pyrrhans claim that the gods blessed their society, giving them magic.

In a society that has had three races living in harmony, beauty is found in one´s accomplishments, and while some may have specific tastes, it is generally one´s achievements that are considered beautiful. the highest complement one can pay to someone is that they admire what they can do.

Gender is considered a label, much like species that does little to define someone´s persona, and is generally only used with those outside Pyrrhos. the pyrrhan language lacks gender-specific possessives.

The Kingdom of Pyrrhos is where most Pyrrhans can be found, though some are abroad as explorers, adventurers and diplomats.
