The Godhunter

None know the Godhunter, but all fear her. Where she walks, the world trembles, for the Ascended in her path die. There is no hiding from her wrath, no surviving her incredible fury. Some worship her, praying for survival. Some hide from her, believing that if they never use their abilities, they will not draw her. Some taunt her, hoping to lure her into making a mistake.
They all fail, and everyone who the Godhunter wishes dead, dies.

Personal history

When the world burned, when the Godcurse claimed the greatest of the Si'ylan Empire's heroes and twisted them into monsters worse than the evil gods they had slain, the mortal races trembled in fear. Some raged against the dying of light. Some hid within deep caverns or dense forests. Some fled to the far corners of the world to escape the devastation, escape the worldshaking power that the Ascended could command.   Every one of them would have failed, if it were not for the Godhunter. No one knows where she came from. Everyone who sees her sees a different face. Her height, her features, even her race change each time she arrives, but none can mistake her. When the Godhunter arrives, it is with the force of a storm and the fury of all who have been trampled under Ascended feet. She struck quickly, slaying each of the Seven and One in less than a year. With the seeds of war cut, the Godhunter began to find and kill those trusted lieutenants and followers of the Seven and One who pursued their masters' war until there was no one left to push the world closer to the brink of extinction. As suddenly as she arrived, the Godhunter vanished.   The mortal races of the world gave trembling thanks to their mysterious savior and began to rebuild their lives on the ashes of the dead empire and in the safety of the Great Cities. The scars of war left on the world were deep and terrible, but still the people of the world would not give up. Some found respite in praying to the Godhunter in thanks for their salvation, while others dedicated themselves only to the seemingly impossible task of rebuilding what had been lost.   The Godcurse did not end with the Seven and One or their adherents. Still the mortal races were at the mercy of the dead gods, their best and brightest being always at risk of having the Godcurse twist their ambitions to evil ends. When an Ascended grows too powerful or reaches too far, the Godhunter arrives like a sudden storm on a clear day and strikes them down. With her protection, the mortal races continue to rebuild and dream of the grandeur they have lost.
