An abrasive veteran of Karvo's Crusade, Katja's sister Bianca was betrothed to Lucius Oldtower-Elfsfield, the late brother of Octavius Petrarch Oldtower-Elfsfield. Bianca disappeared and is presumed to have died in a forest on her way to Elfsbend County. Octavius's brother, heartbroken, went off on the Crusade despite being a poor warrior, and fell in the Battle of the Bloody Well.
After returning from the crusade, Katja married Octavius Oldtower-Elfsfield. Despite the abrasive reputation of each, they appear to have made a good match. The couple welcomed a daughter, Bianca, in early 7396.
