Rixash Ajarayk

Rixash Fyaa'ul Ajarayk is a sailor and lieutenant in the Biinamii Navy, currently serving aboard the paddle steamer frigate Gajaraqlin. A devout follower of the sun god Qiliind, he sees his lack of career progression as a sign that he is were he ought to be.
 

History

Born in the Hiyehusewi state of Ttitháni, there was little inkling that Rixash would serve in the Biinamii navy. Much of his childhood was spent enamoured with the divine, and it was widely expected by his community that he would become a Firetender in his adulthood.
  However, family tragedy on his mother's side prompted her to travel to their home in Biin to care for them, and Rixash insisted on accompanying her, giving him his first exposure to sailing in the Xaqulbijwa Ice Fields and to the efficiency of the Biinamii navy. After consulting with a local firetender, he resolved to bring the fire of the divine to the icy sea, and began the long path to being a naval officer.
  Though Rixash made relatively quick progress, becoming a midshipman in 20 Return (19 Years Ago) and a lieutenant 7 years later, since then his career has stalled. While such languishing would cause an existential crisis in his peers, Rixash considers himself capable of his duty and suited to it, maintaining morale in the face of "mediocrity".
  Beginning in 32 Return, he served as a lieutenant aboard the Unqanu under Captain Yuvaruyn Uldhijaaq, sparking their years-long friendship despite their many differences. Such was Yuvaruyn's fondness for his lieutenant that when he was offered the captaincy of Gajaraqlin, he insisted on Rixash's presence. This accepted, he assumed the position of 2st Lieutenant on the 12th of Vengeance, 39 Return.
 

Social Ties

Rixash's mother originally hailed from Biin, before moving to Hiyehusewi for "security" and marrying his fisherman father. He is the middle child of 7, with three of his brothers choosing to join their father at sea, his older sister pursuing a career in local politics, and his younger sisters both choosing to become firetenders. On his mother's side, one of his cousins is Va'i Uliqan, a prominent politician.
  His closest friend in the navy is Ruvaruyn Uldhijaaq, who he has served as lieutenant for 7 years and counting. Outside of their naval duties, they share little in common but a love of fishing, but their differences have not driven them apart.
  Rixash also has close ties to the firetender community in the Biinamii capital of Iruva'ust, and is known to assist with their duties whenever he has leave.
