Marana Keep

Positioned in the lower central lands, in the northern foothills of the Vericoln Mountains, Marana Keep is the only keep to have been founded with purely defensive purposes in mind.  Positioned not far from the Northern entrance to Vladian's Pass, it is known to have been founded in order to provide a stronghold from which troops could defend the lands of the kingdom from the perceived hostilities of the Humans to the South of the Vericoln Mountains.

The first observation of the Humans to the South was made in the year 4,780 ER, and the wars between their peoples were perceived as too great a risk to initiate first contact, particularly as an outside nation, so the border was reinforced, and Marana Keep founded and built before a delegation was sent to initiate diplomatic relations. By this time, the war in the South had ended, and though wary, the Human nations were eager to find a potential trade partner that wouldn't require a long sea voyage.
