Thread
"Define it? How in the world do you expect me to- You know what, how about this, you define what Thread is. Go ahead! It's about to be just as likely as whatever I would have said."
A byproduct of the Visitation, Thread is one of the most valuable resources in the whole galaxy while also being the most poorly understood.
Traditionally found around anomaly fields, or areas that Visitors frequent, Thread looks like its namesake but instead spun out of raw light, and many different colors. By itself, the material is harmless to humans, causing nothing but a tingling sensation when in contact with the skin, but if it makes contact with an artifact or an anomaly, it seemingly empowers both and can cause changes in function or area.
It's most notable feature, and why it's so valuable, is its use as the titular fuel source of the Thread Engine when gathered into a spool, also acting as a literal thread to try and tie the fabric of the universe back together as the Engine works to place you where you wish to go.
Properties
Material Characteristics
It's physical properties seem to vary from moment to moment. In one, it might be able to stretch a seemingly impossible distance, from feet, to kilometer, longer. In the next it might only be able to move in slight degrees, becoming as rigid as wood, or even more so like steel or stone. Or, instead of constantly shifting, it might remain in a particular state for significant amount of time before suddenly changing without warning.
If it snaps, it ends up as two equal lengths, no matter where the break occurred in the original. A property that has regularly been used in attempts to "farm" more Thread, though it has found limited use due to the aforementioned ever shifting properties.
