The Equidistant

The Equidistant is a unique ship capable of traveling the Multiverse by using five-dimensional techno-magic.

Whereas other Multiverse vehicles use fourth-dimensional techno-magic, these vehicles are slower and can only travel in a certain pattern. But the Equidistant is a prototype that has the ability to traverse to any of the universes with greater accuracy and speed.

The Equidistant is a secret prototype 5D vehicle, developed under Dr. Ludlow Squiggle Farnsworthe at the University of Universe #6, a project financed by

Power Generation

A five-dimensional object is required for power. Presently, the only known things that exist across five dimensions are five-dimensional space slugs. This can/will/has caused some controversy since keeping a five-dimensional creature aboard a vessel could be construed as a form of slavery or exploitation. But this fact was considered irrelevant and thus ignored by the Space Nazis who developed the technology. Yet, should the inevitable existence of the Equidistant become more broadly known, the more controversy among the more democratic existences be expressed.

On the Equidistant, there is a special compartment chamber where the space slug is placed. Since Fligbug, the Five-Dimensional Banana Slug, is considered a beloved member of the family, it is a comfortable and safe little nook, which includes a little pet bed, fluffy stuffed toys, and a couple of delicious nom-noms (but not too much because we want Fliggy to stay a nice, fit dimensional slug).

Propulsion

Music from a skilled Orphic-tinker evokes the power source to emit dimensional translation waves in up to five non-temporal dimensions. This allows the vehicle to be propelled through spatial coordinates using space wave emitters.

Weapons & Armament

None.

Armor and defense

Dimensional waves and extensions can be re-routed from the propulsion system, but at the expense of speed, maneuverability, and outright dramatic effect, thus lowering the Awesome Quotient and impinging on the universal Rule of Cool

.

Communication Tools & Systems

The Equidistant is equipped with a Chromatoscope, allowing for communications between those who can speak Colors. It also has radio, television (but not cable), and top-of-the-line crystal balls. Horatio would love to install a magic mirror, but he's waiting for a model that isn't quite so moody or has that "fairest of them all" glitch.

Sensors

Besides the standard fourth dimensional sensors that come standard on most dimension ships, the Equidistant has the capability of using its unique fifth dimensional waves to bypass the 4D stealth and cloaking technologies. Unlike the defensive measures, there is no additional cost to either speed or maneuverability, and actually may contribute to the ship's overall Awesome.

Complement / Crew
Ideally, six crew. A skeleton crew would be at least three: a pilot, a navigator, and an orphic-tinker. At the extreme, a pilot and orphic-tinker could make it run, but it would be blind sailing.
