HF-SR Cultural Exchange Program

During the years of 10071 - 10097, the Hyperion Federation and Sulethis Republic were beginning to establish the foundations of their alliance. Naturally, the HF became very curious about the SR as well as the culture of such a star nation. The SR was also curious about the HF to a lesser extent, but it would be the hyperionites that proposed to hold a cultural exchange program. This has significantly improved the relations between both factions and the HF - Sulethis defence treaty of 10083 was signed during these events. Together, these factions are both far more powerful than individually because they have different strengths and weaknesses and a highly diverse, well-supplied military is very difficult to defeat.

For the cultural exchange, both sides built large space stations that most HF and SR species could survive on, and many already existing starships, stations and planets were also used for the cultural exchange. This period in history also saw a massive spike in tourism travels.

Probably as a result of this, it is not uncommon to find items designed by one culture exist in the other. This includes a large amount of both hyperionite and sulethis games, music, sport items (as well as the sports themselves) and more. Both sides have celebrated holidays of the other on some occasions, though it would be difficult to establish such a thing across an entire society, and both sides prefer to maintain a degree of independence.

The exchange even allowed the SR to improve their technology more rapidly, catching up with some more of the Fortran factions. Fluxed magnets were inspired by a number of HF technologies and how wacky they can often appear to be. Of course, it was only a short step from that point until they began to specialise heavily into electromagnetics technologies, particularly railguns with their very high velocity and excellent range.
