CD - SR War

A war between the Cypher Dominion and Sulethis Republic, from before the HF-SR first contact. 

Without even knowing that the HF exists, the SR had to fight the war with only Karnol Caretakers support, however, the CD was also much weaker at the time. Due to this, the war ended up relatively evenly balanced. However, it would be soon after the war that the HF would make contact with the SR people for the first time. In fact, the war is what led them to this discovery. The HF noticed CD forces being deployed very far to the very opposite side of Fortrais from them, far to the Waning side. A number of HF forces were deployed shortly after the war in order to observe what the CD was fighting...

Of course, the CD was the faction to attack first, wanting to integrate more societies into its hive mind so that it could go on to conquer ever larger portions of Fortrais. The invasion was not difficult to predict by SR officials, so well before the war started they placed large defence platforms in many locations of their territory. This went on to prove to be an important piece of infrastructure during the war and many CD starships were destroyed by them. The advanced railgun technologies of the SR made their forces excel at long range, anti heavy combat as railguns could penetrate very thick armour reliably at these ranges. Railgun technologies even came into their own in the form of CIWS-like weapons, designed to spray huge amounts of small pellets in a tight cone to destroy missiles, fighters and other small targets. 

The CD, however, could easily power their ships and dissipate heat through wormholes, a technology that even the HF struggles to rival and replicate. This gives them the power to easily deploy any ship at any location in Fortrais for any period of time without having to return to their bases. The long range railguns of the SR proved vital against a faction with this doctrine. SR morale also needed to remain very high if they hoped to repel an invasion from the CD, which has near perfect cohesion due to its hivemind.

Though the war mainly turned out to be the SR on the defensive and CD on the offensive, mainly for the reasons described above, in the end it would be the SR that wins the war. Though they do not expand much because of it, their reach has expanded into some nearby galaxies, such as Mu Saggitianus and Blue, which the SR did not own at the time. Sulethis reach has rapidly expanded within these galaxies following the war, as all the species would prefer to join a faction like the SR than become part of the CD hivemind. They have utilised this fact to rapidly build an even stronger defencive perimeter. The SR did not get out of the war unscathed however, as many of their huge defence platforms were annihilated. Even some SR systems were completely destroyed by some Nicoll-Dyson beams of the CD. Furthermore, a huge amount of SR industry was destroyed or crippled with a number of CD ships which managed to warp behind enemy lines.
