Yunkad Promethean

A subspecies of Yunkad with 3 large, claw-like legs and several large weapons.

Prometheans are a fairly large type of yunkad, standing up to 3m tall and with incredibly powerful armament, even for a yunkad. They are mobile fortresses in battle, which is probably why their subspecies survived the Yunkadia pre-space eras. However, their culture is not always centered around battle. Yunkads admire efficiency, and war is obviously inefficient to a massive extent.

Most prometheans are more or less united under a single culture. They aspire to conquer the stars with large starships and advanced technology, an imperative planted in them by the AI that created the yunkads, Eris. As time went on, however, the yunkads began to realise just how closely their goals aligned and eventually formed a massive planetwide treaty, and have unified very quickly. In far more recent times, they have again unified with the HF. Though they would then have to share any territory they gained, this decision to join a massive multigalactic alliance would give them immense forces to use, enough to have a chance to hold back the HEX Mainframe.

As Yunkads do not require sleep, their days can easily last much longer, even working for entire 50 hour shifts, but to improve morale the HF gives them long breaks away from work as well. Due to their incredibly powerful nature, their culture encourages them to join the military (often the infantry) but not all prometheans do. The HF military arms them with heavy power armour and even more advanced weapons to use against the enemy, so it is quite rare that they are killed in battle. It can be difficult even for a small group of enemy infantry to kill one in battle, especially if the technology disparity is sufficiently large. They are often made platoon leaders due to their superior intelligence (as they are partly mechanical). To help discipline their soldiers, prometheans are required to carry a medallion with them over their military career, being issued the medal after completing basic training. If it is lost or damaged, one can get in big trouble. If it is unclean at inspection time they will be ordered to clean it with the drill sergeant. It is thus preferable to clean their medals in their own time.

The exact structure of their bodies can vary depending on individual, but even the mechanical parts are stored in their DNA equivalent chemicals. As such, they can vary in height, leg size, glow colour (their mechanical and organic glow colours are usually the same; those that aren't are known as dyssynchronous yunkad), personality (but to a lesser degree than purely organic beings) and many more variables.
