Xadia Composite

A very exotic red-orange material which glows and was used by the Xadia Ancients in a wide variety of uses.

Xadia composite is very poorly understood despite extensive efforts by the Hyperion Federation to try and understand it. Strong enough to withstand immense forces such as superluminal railguns and antimatter annihilation rounds and light enough for use in almost any use. It must, however, tap into nearby energy sources to sustain itself otherwise it grows weak and stops emitting light. The material is also often covered by some materials resembling stone, such as in Scattershapes. No modern faction knows any of these facts. It is known that the material appears to react to Suon prescence, by shining slightly brighter when a suon is nearby. Currently, the only theory with any evidence as to why is that the Xadia incorporated the suon prophesy into this material for some reason. Perhaps it was meant to activate some sort of self repair directive that the Xadia never got to test as they left well before the first suons came into being.

Currently, it is only used for scientific reasons and research in many attempts to find out more about the material and hopefully be able to recreate it. However, no modern faction is aware but it also has other uses in many other fields including perpetual motion, superconductivity, weapons, starship thrusters and more depending on which exact form it is used in. These alternative forms are reminiscent of allotropes of some much more common materials, such as carbon. For example, diamond appears like an entirely different material from graphite. All allotropes of Xadia Composite seem to be extremely resistant to heat as well, it is weakly conductive to heat and has an extremely high melting point. The HF could only achieve this melting point with a highly focused beam of QEN arrays over a long time. It is thought that the temperature was in the millions of kelvin.

It is an extremely rare material that has not formed through natural conditions. Only the Xadia ancients that used it knew how to manufacture and manipulate this material.

The various cultures of the HF view materials like these with awe, mysticism and some even with suspicion, mostly because of its incredible potential and also because of how little is known about it.

It is generally not too hazardous to most species. It might be poisonous to some select few species, and no known organism would be able to digest it if swallowed, so it would have to be extracted. If it has formed into sharp objects, then that could be hazardous. There are likely a number of other cases where it could become dangerous as well but these are quite rare.

Its reusability is not well known because no one knows how it can be manipulated with ease. However, the Xadia likely had dedicated machinery for manipulating this, which should make it easy to reuse.
