Unparalleled Velocity

A Freelancer Starship aligned with the Hyperion Federation.

Unparalleled Velocity (UV) is quite small for a freelancer, being only about 600 m long. However, they are very fast and can slightly dive into subspace for a very short time. This is used to help it evade enemy fire by suddenly diving and then returning to real space. It has too much armour to remain dived for a long time though, and its small size makes it quite energy intensive to dive. Its internal systems are not arranged in a way to allow for prolonged diving. As such, it can only dive for several seconds at a time, nor would it be able to fire any weapon at the enemy while dived. It also would not keep this up forever and after being shot at a lot it would probably be hit.

UV comes with a number of weapons, perhaps most significantly the spinal railgun which would allow this small freelancer to fight well above its weight class and penetrating the heavy armour of some ships through sheer kinetic energy. 

It is not clear if this freelancer is named such due to its high acceleration or the velocity of its spinally mounted railgun, but they have been named this for a long time now. UV became a freelancer about 7000 years ago in 35000. They have initially been built as a sentient robot for several hundred years before they became a freelancer, aspiring to become great and become well known. They have achieved this, though they are not as famous as freelancers like S.R.I.A, UV is fairly well known across most of HF territory. This did not come cheap though, as in war they have lost close friends, often other freelancers but also organics, many times. UV has learned to establish several friendships across many areas and ships. 

Though UV is often quite impatient, they have learned to apply logic and reasoning to their actions. If rushing could get someone killed, they can wait. If the stakes are lower, that can cause them to rush ahead of schedule and plans, which some hyperionites have come to recognise as hard to take into account. Because of this, commanders should be careful when UV is under their command, although UV itself cares for its fellow allies that it fights alongside. This extends to any allies of the federation that it ends up supporting as well, and UV will fight hard to save as many as possible. It is known that UV is very loyal to the federation.

They have relatively little matter plasma storage though, which can lead to a number of logistical problems in battles. This signifies its ultimate dedication to helping the hyperion peoples, and the logistics issues are usually lessened with teleporters.
