T.S. Spear of the Stars
Boson - Class Destroyer of the Hyperion Federation.
T.S. Spear of the Stars was built in 8540 as part of a response to the newly discovered (at the time) Cypher Dominion threat. The Federation increased its military industrial complex and built this ship in just 9 days as the starship replicator constructed it rapidly. Although its crew was only given basic training (relative to HF levels of training, which are quite high), they would survive until after the First HF - CD War (which happened in 8797) ended. This made them a highly elite, veteran force. This, 2.5 century old ship was finally destroyed as a result of a CD stealth attack after the war. The ships antimatter reactor exploded, leaving no trace of the ship in existance and killing the entire crew.
Now, the Spear of the Stars is revered as one of the 'hero ships' of times long past, even maintaining this status with the general populace almost 40 000 years later. Many modern war memorials celebrate and remember the sacrifices of T.S. Spear of the Stars, and many modern starship captains take inspiration from this ship, particularly from young captains who are comparatively inexperienced. The ship often symbolises the dramatic rise through the ranks that any ship has the potential to do, which is why it is such an effective source of inspiration. Its destruction and construction dates are not recognised as public holidays, but they are, nonetheless, important days for any war memorials and similar services which honor the fallen in war.
By the time the ship has proven itself, a unique symbol was drawn on the side of the ship. This symbol allowed it to be identified very easily, and became a very well known, iconic part of the ship. Its crew members eventually got the honor of wearing it on their uniform, but none of the crew survive today.
