Starlance Family

Groups of Project Starlance individuals, usually grouped in 'families' because they are more powerful together and the starlance can have familial bonds with offspring.

The Starlance often have to fight for survival. The various factions are afraid of them because of their extreme potency in combat, so might retreat from or fight them on sight. Communications are possible, but some recorded cases of ships being destroyed by some Starlance people despite claiming they would not, do exist, which makes some doubt they are true to their word, even though they normally are. 

The Starlance ships will move across space in groups of approximately 5-20. Sometimes, groups will also meet up. Once a group grows too large, it might split off in halves but some have been known to remain in very large groups.

In combat, the Starlance constantly analyse the enemy forces and search for any weaknesses or strengths they might have. They will rapidly adapt to any situations that unfold, which is a particularly useful trait against the Hyperion Federation specifically. These beings are very intelligent and will understand the capabilities of their other family members very well, so that they can strike in a very coordinated manner. They can modify their own bodies to serve a role depending on their personality, and can come in a wide range of forms. Though they are rightfully known to be very adaptive, Freelancer Starships can actually adapt faster due to a superior availability of technology, so they are often used to fight Starlance families. Sometimes they will sharpen their skills with other families, simulating a battle with each other without actually firing rounds at each other. This way, combat theories can be tested occasionally and each individual can learn lessons in combat, and improve their bodies. Some starlance individuals might also find this activity fun.

Only a very good commander or an overwhelming advantage will be skilled enough to destroy a whole family.
