Siege of Tiarat IV
Tiarat IV, a world of the Leosus Federation (a member of the HF), comes under siege by the Cypher Dominion.
This is the longest siege in history outside of the ancient times, taking a long, bloody, 27 years to complete. The first attack by the CD against orbital defences ended in total fail, partly due to arrogant officers and underestimating their orbital defences. Only managing to scratch the shield of some of the defensive stations. The HF used Teleporters to restock.
The CD did, however, get a scope of the extent of the defences. They sent a larger force, this time involving a much more significant fleet, several teleporter jammers and opened with a significant artillery strike by deep space weapon platforms. The HF fired counter battery deep space weapon platforms in response, forcing the CD to begin the main attack. The planetary defences were attacked from all sides and orbits, and the CD forces formed a significant blockade around the planet. By using Teleport Jammers, they managed to isolate the world so that no supplies could come in and nothing could leave. This planet has a large number of replicators though, allowing it to manufacture its own ammo and food. While it could continue fighting because of this, the effectiveness of its logistical network somewhat worsened. HF counterattacks from elsewhere in the system meant that the CD also had to fight on multiple fronts and the HF tried to counter-blockade the CD blockade. However, they did not have enough forces for that.
The next stages of the siege was the CD trying to destroy much of the HF space infrastructure on the planet. The hyperionites struck with determination but also desperation but attrition heavily favored the HF forces. Many CD ships were destroyed and were pulled onto the surface via gravity and then salvaged by hyperionites. After the HF miltary destroyed almost all CD forces, the CD th en recieved reinforcements and continued the fight.
